Self Portrait in Snow Canyon

The film merges the performative with the cinematic - two women connected with a rope alone in the desert - reminiscent of 70s feminist performance art and early American Westerns but in a new space that seems almost other worldly. The relationship between the two women is ambiguous, the title insinuates it could be just one person and the other may be a manifestation of her subconscious, an imaginary friend, another aspect of her personality...

Inside View

The individual’s stoic gestures are reminiscent of political demonstrations, reiterated, but also obscured, by the repeated sound “Go home”. The cause for protest, almost the whole scenario, is ambiguous, there is no group of demonstrators, the person is alone in a forest, and instead of banners waving she holds a transparent photograph that frames her own face – as if she were protesting herself.
